FERNWEH EXP
“Musèo s. m. [lat. Musēum, gr. Μουσεῖον der. di Μοῦσα «musa2» («sacred place of the Muses»): collection of works of art, or of objects of historical-scientific, anthropological, and cultural interest; also, the building intended to house them, preserve them, and enhance them for public enjoyment."
Walking through the halls in Uffizi and Pinacoteca di Brera I collected several details from the most important paintings in history of art. Millions of people every year stand in front of them and take pictures with they devices, but through their photography what kind of relationship do they create with the painting? Is photography a way to understand them or it becomes a filter we put in front of us?
FERNWEH EXP analyzes the relationship that the viewer manages to build with the artwork and the museum space and to understand how the photographic medium is used by those who wander through the galleries.
With the output of an artist book, the project is divided in two sections: a collection of details of paintings (used like a way of teasing the viewer: you took a picture of it, but can you recognize it through a detail?) and a collection of different behaviors that people have inside museum halls.
